Stephen Holowesko is Head Trader and a firm Partner who joined Holowesko Partners Ltd. at its inception. In addition to his trading duties, Stephen is responsible for analyzing all arbitrage situations (mergers, holding companies, asset class spreads), special situations and derivative strategies. Stephen designed, developed, and oversaw the implementation of HPL’s proprietary portfolio and trade management system.
Before joining HPL (from 1996 to 2000), Stephen was a Vice President at Goldman Sachs & Co. where he first worked in New York as a sales trader on the International Equities desk. Later he was a founding member of the Absolute Return Group based in the UK covering the global Hedge Fund community.
Following a year teaching English in Japan, Stephen began his business career in television news as a Producer at Television Tokyo’s Washington, DC bureau. He was an accredited member of the White House Press Corp and traveled to over 30 countries reporting on topics including US-Japan bilateral relations, international trade, and topical geopolitical events.
Stephen holds a degree in International Relations from Georgetown University (BA 1989) and is a CFA charterholder. During his undergraduate degree, he participated on the crew and rugby teams.
Stephen is a member of the Finance Committee of the Catholic Archdiocese of Nassau, the Board of Directors of the Cape Eleuthera Foundation, and is co-Founder of the Ride for Hope Bahamas. He previously served as a Director and Deputy Chairman of Bahamas Power & Light Company Ltd.
